In December 2009, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Limited was formally merged into GLOBALFOUNDRIES, a new foundry founded by ATIC and AMD in early 2009. GLOBALFOUNDRIES has been forecasted soon to be the No. 2 foundry in terms of market share. Socle is now the ONLY design service affiliate of GLOBALFOUNDRIES.
