    There is no recommended air velocity. The higher the air volume, the faster the reaction speed. As with the hole size question above, the higher the air volume, the faster the air take-in speed, and then the faster the reaction speed. For comparison, we do have air speed requirement for our GP2Y1030AU0F dust sensor which adopts particle counter method. This method always counts the number of dust passed through the hole and converts it to dust density. With this method, if there is not a certain amount of wind,  the dust does not move, and so it can not be measured accurately. But our other dust sensor models including GP2Y1026AU0F adopt the average density method. In this method, the dust concentration is confirmed by measuring the total amount of light reflection of air which contains some some dust. In case of air with low dust density, the amount of light reflection is small, and in case of air with high dust density, the amount of light reflection increases. In this method, if dusty air enters the sensor, it can be measured. However, if there is no wind flow, it takes time for the air to enter the sensor, and so the reactivity is slow. Therefore, for the GP2Y1026AU0F dust sensor, at least small wind is necessary. If there is absolutely no wind, reactivity will be slow.
